The Greater Williamsburg Community Kitchen’s goal is to address the larger food-insecurity issue that plagues over 14,000 local residents. Those impacted include our elderly, working poor, and unemployed as well as homeless populations. This ministry will start to fill a food gap by providing a weekly meal to those who are hungry in our community.
Community Kitchen's Mission
The vision of the Community Kitchen is to compassionately provide a no-charge, weekly mid-day dinner and fellowship to food-insecure individuals from throughout Greater Williamsburg in a welcoming, uplifting, and dignified environment sustained by committed and caring volunteers.
Hours & Location
The Community Kitchen operates every Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is hosted by the Williamsburg United Methodist Church on Jamestown Road. The primary source of support will come from GWOM as well as its member congregations who will be volunteer chefs, servers, and managers. It is anticipated that the Community Kitchen will also be supported by local businesses, non-profit organizations, agencies, and foundations. Donations will be needed for food products, meals, and operational supplies, such as paper products. Please contact our Kitchen Director for more information.
